Well said Kage.
By: kage7785. on 21 Nov 08, 19:04:51
Its possible to travel faster then the speed of light, its just impossible to accelerate matter trapped in our space-time past the speed of light. In our frame of reference yes C is constant and cannot be exceeded but there are other ways to by pass the ''acceleration'' albeit being theoretical and well beyond our current technology. Tachyons are an example of hypothetical particles that travel faster then light and do not violate causality.

Wait. :)
By: gomer1951. on 21 Nov 08, 17:07:08
The problem is that the speed of light is believed to be the highest speed at which something can travel, so it is unlikely that we will be able to travel into the past. As an object nears the speed of light, its relativistic mass increases until, at the speed of light, it becomes infinite. Accelerating an infinite mass any faster than that is impossible Pythagorean rule L122 = (X2 - X1)2 + (Y2 - Y1) time(1 - (U/c)2)1/2 (U=speed, c=speed of light) dilation factor

if you went back in time, how would you get back? :)
By: swordofwind. on 21 Nov 08, 02:55:06
no matter what u cant go to the past before the machine was created. u wouldnt be able to prevent yourself from being born like the movie time machine he couldnt save the girl because the girl was the reason the machine was created if she lived the machine wouldnt be there thus making it impossible for her to live
By: ispyonu111. on 19 Nov 08, 13:52:10
Yeah, right, controlled. Just like the nukes, GE and those alike are controlled today :-))

book written by: David Elieser Deutsch, Physics professor at Oxford....and a great read! Reference book: "The Fabric of Reality: Parallel Universes and it's Implications"
By: ih8theismyo. on 19 Nov 08, 02:59:11
End of discussion right here...FIRST, time does not exist we pass time does not. It was something we created because our simple minds couldn't grasp the way the universe moves and the way we pass(grow, live and die etc.) So it is impossible to "travel through time". However, I will pose a question. "Do you think it is possible to travel through the multi-verse, in other words to parallel universe?" Reference book: "The Fabric of Reality: Parallel Universes and it's Implications"
By: ciilman. on 19 Nov 08, 01:28:54
USSR1941: how can you know so mutch about a machine that does not exist? i mean ho says that when you`"travel" with a time machine that you have to apear in a simular one in another time that proves just how impossible it is to travel from one time to another to a exakt possition this is just something you're imagining like marvel imagined and made up all the superheroes
By: jaguarclaw. on 19 Nov 08, 00:48:53
Look up John Titor. I believe the case to be real. Also, black holes can punch a hole in spacetime. Just throwing out ideas here.
By: USSR1941. on 18 Nov 08, 23:29:41
You dont understand. If you have a time machine you cant go back in time to show the other people to prove it. Because in the past time the machine did not exsist. Therefore there would be no machine for your molecules to materalize into. If a time machine is created you could travel to any time in exsistance except to a time before the date when the machine was created.
By: ciilman. on 18 Nov 08, 22:01:56
there is no time machine now and it will surtenly not exist in the future why do you ask well if there was a time machine in the future they wold have traveled back in time.. to our time and there is no one traveling back to our time because it never becomes possible sorry...but that is the borring truth.
By: uchihaakall. on 18 Nov 08, 20:41:36
do i sound like a smart guy? i never stated that i was im just saying what i think so no need to start calling names these are just their facts about time travel so take it easy man.
By: Nanumir. on 18 Nov 08, 20:13:03
the river of time could very well be shaped as some strange topological object
By: Nanumir. on 18 Nov 08, 20:11:57
don't slam the door especially if they look exotic, meaning different than the people of today, but if they look normal then you might be doing yourself a misdeed letting them in if they're some crazed psycho or something out to get you
By: cheezysingle. on 18 Nov 08, 18:50:44
time is just all of the stuff in the universe doing stuff all of the time,if all the stuff in the universe stopped doing all that stuff,.then there would be no time?
By: MrStosh314. on 18 Nov 08, 17:39:02
Hey smart guy, they don't have all the information and they don't have all the technology to do it. If you listened at all to what Dr. Kaku said maybe you would know why we don't have time travel right now. He stated that you would need to harness the amount of energy from an exploding star to alter space/time. We can't even control our own environment/weather let alone the energy from an exploding star!
By: ihateyousomuchx10. on 18 Nov 08, 08:37:07
wrong. it would be strictly controlled by the government.
By: ihateyousomuchx10. on 18 Nov 08, 08:35:12
so what you're telling us is. that... you are fucking retarded and are too stupid to of heard the amount of energy required for it to be possible. oh ok then fuckwit. you're a dumbcunt. congratulations :)
By: uchihaakall. on 18 Nov 08, 01:37:03
if its possible how come its never been done yeah they got all their information that sounds right but they still cant do it
By: ispyonu111. on 17 Nov 08, 23:43:57
Time travel if it would be possible, would be the ultimate disaster source for the entire universe, and not only for humanity. But, hey, no sweat, time travel is like a chess game. Exists only in the players mind, and is 100% virtual, meaning: unrealistic. However, this concept will be fun to elaborate on, for me and you. I call time travel: time killer. I think of time travel when I got nothing better to do as sitting on a loo for instance.
By: ispyonu111. on 17 Nov 08, 23:28:52
Time travel would be a hell of a thrill for a japanese physics graduate (like pictured Michio Kaku) with some patriotic flavor. Such a guy could go back to pre-WW2 Japan, and equip japanese empire with a ready for use nuclear warheads at the time when US didn't have a clue of it. Pearl Harbour and other possibilities would be quite a sight.
By: ispyonu111. on 17 Nov 08, 22:56:35
Not to mention really groovy things like: kill Hitler and Lenin when they were babies, and WW2 + USSR would never happen. Go back to Jurassic, 'bout 100 million years, and snach a T-Rex or Brachiosaurus egg, you'd make a fortune with a theme park based on a real dinos, no DNA cloning needed. Travelling to the future wouldn't be really necessary.
By: ispyonu111. on 17 Nov 08, 22:41:28
Travelling in time would be great for making money fast'n'easy. Go back to a time point when a major jack pott at your local Lotto wasn't won by anyone, and place a bet with the winning numbers which you'd obtain from your present Lotto archive. Cool, eh? Once we'd master time travel, the life will be a piece of cake.
