i think the Apple Macbook Air will not last very much longer. Apple needs to drop the price in the Air dramatically to stay alive. I really don't see them selling much of those now especially with the new redesign macbook. More people will go for those since they keys light up and their thinner and have a super drive.

every1 does not buy a new vid camera as soon as they come out. the mini dv's r great machines and apple just assumes that as soon as a harddisk cam comes out with just usb every1 will buy it and ditch their mini dv stuff. apple assumes 2 many things sometimes. i love apple but they have 2 stop assuming every1 is rich enough to buy a new tech 2 match the new machines every few months.

u r an absolute genius. i almost completely agree with u. apple should offer a choice for all notebooks in terms of displays. firewire is left out for a reason. most CONSUMER camcorders are USB. the macbook is a CONSUMER product. on the macbook pro they shouldn't have left out the firewire 400. ?????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????

Well I dont have a problem with glossy displays. Especially with glass. Did they maybe make the first notebooks with a glass display. Well I usually wouldent use a computer in an envierment where theres lots of glare. That's not necessarily true. I compared the Studio line to the XPS line and the only thing different was the name pretty much. Because you are able to customize the laptop when ordering, you can still get the top performance and specs that would be offered in a XPS. I just ordered one and am quite pleased with my decision. As for the body of the computer, I won't argue with you there.

I ordered mine on 11/28/08 and was told that the date it would possibly be shipped would be 12/10/08, and set to arrive between 12/14/08 - 12/17/08. I was a little disappointed that they don't mention that up front before I paid for it. Oh well, I'll be patient.

You pronounce it as it was changed, when aluminum was first discovered it did not have a "I" at the end, so therefore americans pronounce it the way its supposed to sound, without the "I" at the end. I said they have newer technologies in place when compared with other consumer notebooks. Key word, CONSUMER. When would you find a gtx280 in an average user notebook? If you buy a decked out pc for the same price as a lower end macintosh, you're likely to sacrifice build quality; cheaper parts...etc. It's pretty clear that a larger % of Windows PC users have had problems with their computers in the past when compared with Mac users. oftware/hardware all coming from one source,

don't want to start a Mac vs Pc fight here but some of the things you are saying are completely wrong. Newest technology available, i dont see any gtx280s or 4870x2s in macs. Quality: Macs are very high quality but if you spend as much as you spend on a mac you'll get the same quality. Expensive repairs? I have never paid for any repairs for my PC. Software incompatibility: You're joking me right? Macs are definitely great high quality products but doesn't mean they're better in every way

Its too early to see for Voodoo to be advertising they're products. They only have one actual product for sale and that's the Envy you see here. Their other is the Omen, which on their website says "sale through invitation only". Again, it's too early but they're definitely worth keeping an eye on since HP acquired them. For all we know these Voodoo guys can replace Alienware. But back to topic, I did find it rather odd he didn't mention the instant-on Linux OS.

well I don't know why you would say that. 4 years ago I bought a laptop through them and it has done everything I needed it 2. Only now can it not handle the top end games. Yes I was aware of that but it was reviewed in 2007 before voodoo announced their new product line and image. If I am correct they no longer sell the M:152 or it is very hard to find. So to answer your response, I was suggesting that they would perhaps make a gaming version based off this particular model instead of using other companies cases and putting $600 paint jobs on them to raise the price. Also sites have supported that it may be on its way. Thanks and hopefully I cleared things up.

I just bought a Macbook Air (don't worry I did not spend as much as you all think) but I must admit this one is just as sharp looking. But it's vista and I already have a laptop running XP so why waste the money only to scale back the operating system? Some of the newer systems have both RAM slots under the system - so you dont need to open the system up any further at all. If you only have oe RAM slot under the laptop, then yes, the second will be under the keyboard as shown in the video.

Yea you're right.. i think if u want the perfect notebook, u can wait forever.. my opinion is to buy what u need.. i need bluetooth, wifi, relatively big screen, vga, etc.. then i take a look at the looks, and i buy what i like.. Build quality is indeed important, and the msi may be the worst-built of the netbooks, but i just don't have any problems (for now).. maybe if i had some, my opinion could be different...

It's hard to find the ultimate netbook. I like MSI's bright screen, but I dislike how fragile it is. The MSI's bilingual keyboard used in most non-us distributions is awful. I like HP's keyboard, but I dislike its price and how it doesn't have vga out. I dislike how the other netbooks only have 8.9" screens. I'm seeing some cool new ones in the pipe line, but how long does one have to wait..

The stress makes the screen more susceptible to breaking it. It threatens to reduce the life of this netbook. I'm just warning people, because I've seen how the screen is not well protected at all. Any handling of the lid part, top and side, directly translates to pushing fluids and bending and warping the actual screen. Not good for carrying around, and definitely less well built than the average notebook that way. Sorry to disappoint you.

This is not a thing that you may or may not have. Fact is that your msi has a weak screen. The lid easily bends. It does that. Yours is not magically different. When you hold your wind with the lid closed, and lift it, carry it around, there are stresses on the lcd screen. You can't make that problem go away but really liking your laptop. It's not an opinion, it's a fact.

Just to save people from falling what I fell for: avoid the wind at all cost. The thing is NOT, I repeat, NOT build very well. The problem is in the screen and the lid. The lid is easily bent, especially while carrying around. Also when you open an close the lid while the screen is on with a dark blue background, then you can see how there is all kinds of stress on the screen because of the watery patterns that appear. The screen will break early I think - not well protected at all.

Hey Williams! Perhaps you should tell that it comes with a garbage TN monitor that is useless for any real photowork. The 2nd display is even totally disgusting, since is has the very bad TN vertical viewing angle horizontally. You can even see it in the video!!! So take your great dual-HDD / dual-screen / wacom notebook and don't act like it's for photographers or come back with a new revision with IPS / AFFS screens. Then we'll talk again. My W700 is the strongest notebook I ever seen. I just don't see the point of adding another horrible screen to what already is a low quality main screen. Do not believe the 400 nit screen will make a difference with whatever screen other notebooks already have. The viewing angle is bad!! What I recommend Lenovo is to improve the main screen by adding a LED backlit with at least 100% Gamut screen to the W700 before even mislead customers and targeting such machine to pro photographers...

Lenovo? heck no, I work for a company of more than a 1000, and we use Lenovo (previously IBM) and they're the worst quality, on first 6 months, the HD, keyboard, go out like crazy. Many manufacturers are so concerned with new features that they have not got the base features working... make a laptop that works well and has longer lifetime than 6 months before things start to go bad... If anything learn something from the Big 3's mistake and toyota....

Im coming from a Mac background - but the W700ds is pretty cool. 1) I would have something like the 'glass' track pad on the new macbook pros. (No need to even push the 'track pad button'... 1a) Do this having one central wacom...it would also make it larger...drop the current mini trackpad 2) OS-X...as much as I would like one of these, I have not yet been able to adjust to Windows. (I know, this is in Apples court.) Cool product ideas though...keep pushing the envelope...
