actully to correct the man, the Olympic white finish was on the early prototype stratocasters such as the #0001 Stratocaster owned by David Gilmour, while it isn't the first Stratocaster made it is one of the first few and it had an olympic white finish

Strats were first made in '54. What are you smokin?
By: JeremiahJackdaw. on 04 Oct 08, 13:47:55
...and Esquires from even earlier...
By: JeremiahJackdaw. on 04 Oct 08, 13:36:39
Strats weren't produced until 1957. Telecasters (originally 'Broadcasters') were made from '54 onwards.

Retard, they didn't make olympic white finishes in '57. It's white blonde, or "Mary Kay."
By: shitastic31. on 29 Sep 08, 09:22:58

beautiful guitar, the holy grail too. be careful with ebay though there are a lot of dodgy characters out there who know how to make an 80s strat look like a 50s or 60s.
By: Nordman15. on 15 Sep 08, 23:22:51
i hope you dont mean 200 dollars
By: ImOnTheTube. on 08 Sep 08, 19:41:23
12th fret guitar shop in Toronto has a nice selection of vintage strats that go anywhere from 10-50k. Imagine the insurance on that!

There's a 54 strat on ebay right now. One of the first ever made.

Find one on eBay first haha. Oldest I've ever seen on eBay is mid/late 60's models.
By: PilotDoofy. on 28 Jul 08, 16:07:14
I'm sure your telecaster isn't a 1957 model. Even vintage reissue guitars don't sound like true vintage guitars.
