Hey, thats a great idea, and I wish you luck on it! ^_^ Yeah, well since I practise kendo at a club that is part of the "British Bushido assosiation" once I get Dan rank in kendo, I learn other samurai arts. My dream is similar to yours (opening a dojo) but I was conviced to keep to my dream of becomeing the next "kensei"! Weird, but Im set on it. Again, I wish you luck!
By: OkamiNinja7. on 12 Oct 08, 16:24:05
same here. i mean, i think ninjutsu is very efficient but it covers a certain field that makes it effective, and that is stealth and survival. bushido is very honorable to me as well and i like bushido. what i plan to do is learn bushido martial arts and ninjutsu and open my own samurai ninja school.
By: Samuraigothlord. on 12 Oct 08, 16:03:32
Ok, thanks. Im not to familiar with his family history, Im really not to interested in the Ninja arts to be honest. I think that they are a bit overrated nowadays, sadly. And everyone thinks somehow they are the mightiest. I like the traditional ninja however. I think of it this way: If you practise ninjutsu, you are ninja. If you practise anything from bushido, you are samurai. Thats just how I see it.
By: OkamiNinja7. on 12 Oct 08, 13:32:05
actually, it just was created in Iga, not neccessarily a variant, like how kyokushinkai karate came from okinawan goju ryu. as for hattori hanzo, his family was from iga and most of em are ninja but i cant tell ya if he was. if you look at a list of ninpo styles you will see hattori ryu in the iga section. sadly, the art is dead just like 90% of the others.
By: Samuraigothlord. on 12 Oct 08, 09:43:39
So its a variant of the Iga style? I am aware of the Iga ninja. The most famous was Hanzo Hattori (But thats just a myth, he was in fact a samurai with conections to the ninja)
By: OkamiNinja7. on 11 Oct 08, 22:22:54
it is nice but it is obviously a cheap, stainless steel sword. anyone know of a sword like this one that is carbon steel other than the Musashi Koga sword?
By: OkamiNinja7. on 11 Oct 08, 22:16:59
Bujinkan teaches Togakure ryu, which came from Iga ryu. There is supposedly another group called the Banke shinoinoden however that teach both Iga and Koga ryu. The soke, Jinichi Kawakami, came from Iga, descended from Iga ninja, and is the head of the Iga ryu ninjutsu museum.

i am glad to see that people are still keeping the ninja alive and i hope that this amazing art will never die out. peace...
By: Samuraigothlord. on 02 Sep 08, 16:24:44
That would make sense. But then again, ninja could also pose as samurai in order to carry out a job. They also had no qualms to killing an entire household, or dying to accomplish the mission. If im not much mistaken, I bielive that someone told me that a ninja's life expectancy was about 15 seconds. Not becuase of their lack of skill, but more becuase of the danger they faced.
By: J12983. on 02 Sep 08, 15:36:01
"You are correct sir YES!!"
By: J12983. on 02 Sep 08, 15:34:28
One must remember that the two were sometimes one in the same. Some of the best ninja came from familys' with a strong samurai heritage. Sometimes samurai were ninjas' as well, with the fact they were men of the shadows' discovered generations after their deaths' That said, I agree with you 100%.
By: Samuraigothlord. on 30 Aug 08, 08:40:53
I beilive that there is a dojo run under that name here in England. Im not actually to fasinated by ninja arts, as I prefer the samurai arts. But I have been thinking about giving it a try, so thanks for the info. Pain is fine, when I can get a sword legaly, my dojo will make train with it. My sensei had anacident with one in training once, got stabbed in the chest. OW! Pain is fine.
By: thedonqwet. on 30 Aug 08, 06:46:57
thanks for the reply. i study Bujinkan Ninjutsu in Brisbane Australia. they do not take any one under the age of 18 and also preform police checks. Bujinkan is probably the closest thing to real Ninjutsu. the dojo's are kinda hard to find and if you don't like pain, i suggest not joining. as the training is full contact. well worth it if you want to know a rally hard core martial art. Google it and ya will find one near you. that's what i did. peace.
By: Samuraigothlord. on 29 Aug 08, 12:09:21
Correct, the Samurai were. Untill into the Tokugawa shogunate anyway...then secrate police and assassins were important. Do you know if a few Ninja schools are still teaching? (E.g. Iga). Ps: I agree
By: thedonqwet. on 29 Aug 08, 12:04:48
the samurai were rich land holder hi class warriors and did have much better swords than the ninja. but the ninja were not just spy's.they were mostly farmers and they developed there skills to defend themselves against the samurai and other ninja clans. a few did become spy's and assassins as there training was ideal for the job. a lot is still not known about the secretive Ninja. and will always be so. Ps. this is a cheep and nasty knock off sword.
By: Samuraigothlord. on 26 Aug 08, 21:11:51
Ultimate warrior, what? The ninja were indeed powerful, but the mightyest class was considered to be the samurai. The ninja were SPY'S and are somehow believed to be warriors. This is not untrue, of course. But they were supposed to avoid combat when retrieving information. And besides, a samurai's Katana would last longer than a ninja's Shinobigatana. This was because samurai believed their sword was their soul, while ninja used their swords as tools.
By: Samuraigothlord. on 26 Aug 08, 21:08:37
Nodachi's are heavy and hard to wield efficiently. They have many uses, but the idea was that you could strick a foe at a range they could not match. However, if you got close enough, the nodachi cannot cut well due to lack of swing space.
By: PestVic. on 20 Aug 08, 18:16:59
it looks like a onimushi i know the symbol on the part next to the hand guard, i own one of these swords and it was really cheap so i beat it up and now the handle is loose. but thats what i expected from a replica :-P
