That guy really deserved that valuation - it wasn't something that he'd bought in auction as an investment - it was a heirloom and the generations of care afforded to it has been repayed. I love seeing valuations like this - but also seeing valuations where someone has bought something on a purely financial level hoping to make a buck a few years down the line being told it's worth nothing. They deserve their valuations too!

In what way is this an "antique"? What was it even doing on the show? Before broadcast, the show was publicised on the news as featuring a million-pound find. True, but this was about 20 years ago & that was the going rate then, based on my research before the sale. I wouldn't have gotten much more. Of course, nowadays those door knobs can be worth quite a bit more. (sigh) I should've kept it. You know, I just turned twenty years old and apparently am from the "generation" in which some say doesn't care about the Peanuts gang anymore. I am MORTIFIED. Just because large scale company's produce crap products, such as Bratz, for example, doesn't mean we're all going to eat them up. I grew up with Peanuts, and still am an avid fan and collector of all of Schulz's work. I think it's pure, untainted comedy- unlike some material on the market today. Peanuts was good at the beginning. Any critic agrees by the time the 70s rolled around it was commercial dreck. It is the highest priced comic work of its period, so I dont know why its an impossibilty it would go down in value. OK, fine, my personal comments were harsh, but I was referencing a show in which his family was interviewed. He was a good provider and a great artist. He was also insanely over-commercialized.

Charles Schulz was a horrible parent and husband. His comics were interesting at first and then the pinnacle of god awful horcrap in the 70s and 80s and I know because I stopped reading them. Woodstock was a heinous, stupid little bird. He wasnt a Rembrandt or Dali, thats for sure.

damn, wow. yeah, that sucks. similar thing happened in my family... my grandfather had a great collection of baseball cards, all in mint condition. original babe ruths, a lou gehrig, a rare mickey mantle, a yogi bera rookie, and more I can't remember. After he married his second wife, she "thoroughly cleaned and de-cluttered" his house one day after she moved in. while he was at work one day, she threw out his entire collection, considering it "junk". what a shame.

Ya, my great aunt was in the movie industry. I believe she did make-up and the like. She had over a thousand autographed photos or other memorabilia from such stars during the 30's all the way through the late 50's. Unfortunately, her sister was jealous and ended up burning them in a fire at her home. Very sad.
