i watched before sunrise last night...and i hated that they didnt exchange numbers or something!..i wished they'd fuck the world and spend every night together..but a part of me was kinda glad that they didnt cuz that night was special, and unlike any other, so it shouldnt have been overshadowed by many other nights together..in a weird way..idk if that makes sense. lol..thanks for posting this one!

What? did somebody rate my comment just because I said there was a lot of dialogue in the movie LOL that's ridiculous. Even if there is a lot of dialogue in the movie, that won't stop me from watching it when I'm in the mood. I don't want to paint the wrong picture I don't necessarily HATE dialogue. So far Julie and Ethan's dialogue is indeed long but they both pulled it off and it looks believable rather than making it look fake. So i don't mind watching it. :)

If you're looking for an action movie--this is not it! Both movies are centered entirely around dialogue--what you see here is what you get--people genuinely getting to know each other by talking. I love it personally, my whole life is about telling stories, listening to stories, reading stories, but if you want action you'll have to find another movie!

Just yesterday watched 'Before Sunset' and wanted to look at these two people how they looked in 'Before Sunrise'. The chemistry between them is so fantastic, it looks very real. The conversation, everything, in the Sunrise was according to their age, and in Sunset everything changed as they became 9yr older. If one can attentive and patience this mainly conversational Sunset is really very absorbing. I liked both. They are very different type of romantic movie.

it's a common stereotype. im an american as well and i have to admit that i am only fluent in english. i have studied an asian language and i am currently studying a european one, but i am not fluent in either. i think there are some--not all, of course--americans who don't feel the need to learn another language because so many of the other countries learn english, however, it is definitely helpful and smart to learn another language besides your own.

i'm not sure which one i prefer. i'm watching before sunset on the telly right now and there are some parts that kind of make me cringe, but i'm not better writer and it's very well acted. im at the part where celine and jesse have gotten off the boat and she's about to say goodbye. just the way her mood changes, from her happiness to slightly solemn on the boat, to serious...i just really love that part. before sunrise is also very beautiful. how they're so young and life is before them.

When I said relevant, I meant "relevant to their relationship," not relevant to any specific conversation. Before Sunrise suffers from trying to be too smart in its dialogue, too indulgent in its uniqueness that it somewhat alienates. I would say the entire film is very strong, but it has its problem areas which I felt were somewhat fixed with the sequel. Before Sunset is much less shallow, a bit more mature and poetic. Overall it was an improvement to its not so inferior prequel.

The thing you praise is the thing I disliked: The "tightness" of Before Sunset. .You say" everything they say is relevant" When is any real life conversation that lasts more then 5 minutes 100% relevant to the topic at hand? Like I assert, the second film tries too hard to be "movie like" The first was a lot looser and I liked the ambiguity in it far more... I don't see that as the case at all. You do remember how the two sparked conversation in Before Sunrise right? Jesse was talking about wanting to make a 24 hour TV show about people's lives... Let's get real. Before Sunset had a much tighter, more realistic script. Everything that Jesse and Celine say in Before Sunset is completely relevant to their relationship. Celine tries her best to appear detached while Jesse tries his best to run the clock before his flight. It's the better film.

Despite this being an essentially great film, there's not a little heavy-handed, pseudo-profound, kind of embarrassing dialogue here. However, at about 9:11-13 when she says "Not to bring everything back to sex" and he says "Why not"?--it's pretty wonderful. The whole thing with the sexual current between them is very well done. So are most other things, but I would make some of the dialogue less pretentious and then it would be perfect.

in my opinion, it had to do with her grandmother's funderal. It was a sad time for her and she missed out on seeing the man she had that unforgettable night with. It's strange how the switches flipped. Jesse was the pessimist in the first film and it seems now he is the optimist because of her.

That's why later when she finds out his marriage is so bad, she can't help laughing with joy. Up until that she maintains a restraint, but it's only to protect herself. I love the moment at the very end of this clip, around 9:50. For the first time, we see Celine's romantic side register on her face. They're talking about how when you're old, you realize you connect with only so few. He's looking down and then she gives him this subtle but really tender look. It's almost as if they're going to kiss, but then she hides it again and starts a new conversation. That's the turning point as she realizes she still loves him. The car scene cartharsis is inevitable.

Well, it shows how much she changed in a way. In the other hand, she was sort'a mad inside and very depressm if you kept watching the movie, you would've noticed. In this movie, she seems like she was trying not to get close to Jesse while Jesse kept pressing on. Celine was trying to not show her true feelings I think. Like how she "forgot" about them having sex and how she kept trying to get him to the plane while Jesse didn't really care. Celine probably didn't want to fall in love again.

The scene between Jesse and Celine on the boat ride was not only picturesque but special in terms of what emotions were revealed. Celine is really a sentimental/romantic and deep-thinking person who wants to make a difference to the world in a meaningful/positive way. Jesse is completely captivated by the free-spirited/intelligent nature that she harbors and found their connection in "Sunrise" to be a real bond that he wants to remain solidified. One of the most powerful scenes in all of "Sunset" (the boat ride conclusion and then in the car). The chemistry between Jesse and Celine is still very much alive and strong but so is their tension and (underneath all that) frustation. Their love story is very genuine, touching and refreshing but (unfortunately) complicated and now more so because of their present relationships. Just as they felt "innocence lost" in "Sunrise" so do we as viewers that the idealism disappeared (reality set in).

you realize this isnt a dogma movie, right? "the idiots" is von trier's only dogma film.
