Also, I saw a comment back a while ago (can't find it anymore) about the SASR being supported by RAN CDs. That is a load of rubbish. Clearance divers do not remotely meet their standards, and the SASR has it's own deep diving specialists. In fact, around half the regiment is probably deep diving specialists, seeing as they are either that or a free fall specialist, in addition to another 4 or more other specialities they also have, such as sniper etc.

I did a bit of checking into the Clearance Divers being involved in TAG(E). Those divers who have been in TAG(E) are the only clearance divers who are meet Army SF requirements. In addition to that, they are primarily used in water based operations, and their use on land is much more limited. Primarily, they support the 4RAR guys, though they also act as assaulter's and 'maritime snipers'. TAG(W) on the other hand is purely SASR members, and is more highly skilled with greater capabilities.

mate, you realise there is no comparison there.... the USMC is a US Military branch which comprises of infantry, mechanized divisions, amphibious assault units, sniper and recon units and functions like a normal army... the SAS are SF who specialise in non-conventional warfare.... no link really

British SAS squads have been around alot longer? I don't think there is anyone in any SAS over 70... unless you are referring to the SAS being about 20 years older than the SASR. But the SASR has been around for over 40 years now. so they have just as good an idea of what their doing as the SAS do, especially seeing as their creation had input from a number of existing and experienced SF units. And whats this about 'toughness'? Evidence? None. Means nothing without brains anyway.

At the Siege of Tobruk in Libya, 1941 14,000 of our boys of the Australian 9th Division were the first to defeat German General Rommel's previously unstoppable "Blitzkrieg" in North Africa. The Australian Corps also made the decisive break-through of WW1 at the Battle of Amiens in August 1918. Yeah definately. I presume most, if not all of the Elite forces around the world do that sort of thing (apart from the Taliban! LOL) using the Gas. I didn't mean soldiers have died in the Gas tents but the Gas used is very deadly. I should be joining up with the British Army next year sometime and if things go my way, being part of the SAS in around 5 years time. I know it's a hell of a step up from the Army, but i'm willing to train myself physically and mentally over the years.

SAS id suppose to be the most elite soldiers, but regarding the gas training all american infantry soldiers do that same test with the gas so that they know when to get there mask on and they also have to keep there mask off for a certain amount of time that is the same as the SAS so its nothing really special ,but as for people dying durinmg special forces training it wouldnt be from the gas or weapons training it would be from there survival training they go through which is the most intense.

They've had to sit in Tents of gas (that can kill) for minutes with no gas mask, Interigated in the worst environments and had to survive on their own initiative/training given, in the most remote parts of the world. Dude its far to powerful for pistol it far do load for profetional use (the forces), fire a DE and the entire fuckin battlefield knows were you are,and then the lead will really start to fly. The recoil i enongh to break the fires wrist or smash them in the face. It also reduces the weapons rate of fire as it takes longer to reaim the weapon, so if you miss the first shot than likely as not the other guy is gonna get a couple of shots at you first. I quite like the USP45 manly for the its looks.
